Chats with a self-love Queen: Body positivity, mental health and fifo life
Currently there is a large focus on self-love and body positivity in our society and in the online realm, you could even say it’s become somewhat of a movement. Women are feeling more and more confident to show off their bodies, share their health journeys and the struggles they have faced with body image...
Women in Aviation – The Australian Chapter: Diversifying the Aviation industry, one woman at a time
Co Gear collaborated with the team at WAI - The Australian Chapter, to create an inclusive workwear package which included 2 pairs of cargo work pants or a maternity kit for a pregnant applicant. For those who haven’t heard us speak their praises, WAI are a volunteer community that empower and support women with career goals in the Aviation industry. To announce the scholarship winners, a Zoom presentation was held in true 2020 style, an event Kym was honored to take part in.

Women everywhere found these cargos to be a success and they grew quite the following.
Pregnant women speak out: We want maternity work pants that fit!
24 weeks pregnant and this time around I'm grateful to be working mostly from home. My first pregnancy was totally different - I was working the 9-5 job and dreaded choosing what to wear daily. Everything was either too tight, uncomfortable or just didn't look right. It was easy enough to find maternity singlets, tights and casual (not so stylish) t-shirts, but maternity work pants? A rare occurrence! You could even see that some brands just slapped a piece of extra material onto their garments and called it maternity – a poor excuse for what should be a functional and supportive wardrobe essential for pregnant women.
Relocating for work: the pros and cons you need to consider
“I moved to Townsville by myself, relocating from Toowomba to work for BHP. In hindsight it was the best thing I’ve done and I wouldn’t change it for anything. It helped me become more social when it came to work and the new friends I made, became family. Some great advantages was that it was easy to save money living remotely and I became a part of the small communities I lived in”

The Many Roles Of A Woman: Women's Work Pants Create Resilience
With the resilience of the average (extraordinary) woman in mind, we’ve created a pair of pants suited to meet most, if not all of these roles. The magic formula? A little bit of style, a pinch of sustainable material, a shake of unique technology and a bucket load of conscious thinking, leaving us with a pair of adaptable and multifaceted cargo pants that ooze longevity. If you haven’t already guessed, we named her Sandy.
Conquering Mental Health Issues For Fly In Fly Out Workers
Mental health can often be viewed as a “taboo” subject, creating barriers and fear around opening communication channels to have those (sometimes tough) conversations. This is something Co Gear is passionate about breaking down in the workplace and community, along with external factors such as discrimination and workplace bullying.
Why We Support Shopping Second-hand
Okay, so it’s not just the love for bargain shopping that makes the Co Gear team a big fan of op shops – it’s about how it reduces the impact on our environment as well. Opting to purchase second-hand saves additional pollutants such as dyes and bleach being released into the environment, as opposed to when new garments are made.
How Late is Too Late?
There’s a misconception around aging and the milestones we are expected to meet along the way. There are no rules (or timelines) when it comes to finding your purpose, starting a new endeavour or even finding love. Women's Workwear brand, Co Gear, discusses the importance of being open to change, at any age.
How Co Gear collaborates, connects and creates!
Collaborations are an integral part of the Co Gear business and a key element to our success. We listen, we think outside the box and we create innovative women's workwear that makes a difference. Working along side BHP has opened so many doors for us and created opportunities to connect with the working women that Co Gear was created to support.
How to recognize and overcome Imposter Syndrome
“Now the reason why my uniform affected my confidence was simple. It was because it was a man's uniform, a uniform made for the person who “should” be doing this job. So, it's pretty safe to say when my Impostor Syndrome was working overtime it was easy for me to say "I shouldn't be doing this job. I'm playing dress-up in men's clothing for a man's role after all."
